The municipality of Etterbeek is launching a participatory financing campaign (crowdlending) for the renovation of the roofs of the Claire-Joie school, which recently celebrated its 90th anniversary on Rue Beckers.
The project concerns the complete insulation of the roofs, repainting of the cornices, as well as the installation of safety and access equipment. The structure is also concerned with the installation of photovoltaic panels.
The Claire-Joie project is fully aligned with the municipal policy of carbon neutrality, which is based in particular on the transformation or construction of exemplary and sustainable public facilities.

The renovation of the roofs of the Claire-Joie school
The roofs targeted by this renovation and insulation project are the flat roof of the front street-side building and the zinc roof of the rear building.
The structure is locally reinforced in order to install photovoltaic panels. The production of these panels is eventually shared with other nearby municipal buildings such as the Town Hall or the chapel (Association House) located on the Jardins de la Chasse site.
The above-mentioned works follow the replacement of all the window frames of these buildings, carried out in May 2025. After these works, the energy performance of this building will be greatly improved.

Project objectives
- Renovation and improvement of the energy performance of the Claire-Joie school building
- Continuation of the municipality’s low-carbon policy, by creating a more sustainable and energy-efficient whole
Timeline
The contract award is planned for October 2025. The works are scheduled for the end of 2025.
Estimated costs and sources of financing
The cost of the works is estimated at €271,000 incl. VAT, to be financed through a crowdlending fundraising campaign.
The requested financing covers the roof-related works, while the photovoltaic panels are financed through another source.
