Freddy Hoorens

Co-founder

Freddy is a partner at Quares and CEO of Jade.
In this role, he focuses primarily on sustainability and innovation in real estate-related matters.

Freddy received a technical education in electronics, supplemented by studies at Disney University in Orlando (people management and quality services), Vlerick in Ghent (SME excellence), and the Catholic University of Leuven (postgraduate degree in Real Estate Studies).

He is a frequent guest speaker for both the public and private sectors on topics such as park management, sustainable management, and carbon neutrality; he also serves on various advisory boards and think tanks.

Herman Du Bois

Co-founder

Herman is a partner at Quares and CEO of Quares Student Housing.
He is a member of the IPI and holds the title of Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
Herman earned a Master’s degree in Applied Economic Sciences (Finance) from the Catholic University of Leuven (1986) and studied Real Estate at the Catholic University of Leuven (1995). He began his career at PwC in 1986 and has worked in the real estate sector since 1992: Aranäs (Swedish), Asset & Property Managers (Benelux), Atisreal (French), BNP Paribas Real Estate (French), and, since 2006, Quares (Benelux).

Romeo Mercken

CEO

Romeo earned a Master’s degree in Real Estate (Antwerp Management School) and a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering (Louvain School of Management), and has passed all three levels of the CFA exam.

He began his career at Deloitte Financial Advisory and has been with Quares since 2020, where he is responsible for real estate acquisitions, equity and debt raising, and fund management. He is active across Quares’ various divisions: traditional residential real estate (QRI), student housing (QSH), and sustainability finance (QSI).

Roy Van den Wyngaert

Roy is a Senior Business Development Manager at Jade Synergies.

He developed his expertise in business development, real estate, and sustainability through courses and certifications at institutions such as Vlerick Business School and SPRYG Real Estate Academy.

Roy joined Quares in 2020 and has since served as Business Development Manager. With extensive experience in ESCO models, he works closely with companies, investors, and developers to realize profitable and sustainable energy projects.
