Spirulina from Gaume – Investing in a local and sustainable superfood

Spiruline de Gaume offers investors the opportunity to participate in the rise of an artisanal player in a rapidly growing European market. With a clear positioning—artisanal spirulina in twigs, local, pure, and traceable—and concrete development plans, the company aims to become the Belgian benchmark for premium spirulina.

The global spirulina market is estimated at $1.3 billion in 2024 and is expected to reach $4.5 billion by 2032 (+16.7% CAGR). In Belgium, almost 100% of the spirulina consumed is imported, leaving strategic room for high-quality local production. This is especially true given that imported industrial spirulina is of lower quality.

Performance and trajectory

2023–2024 – Launch and structuring

  • Establishment of the farm in Gaume and first harvests.
  • Development of an initial customer network via local markets, short supply chains, and e-commerce.

2024-2025 – Growth phase

Increase in production capacity and expansion of customer base.

  • Start of partnerships with organic stores, herbalists, and local restaurants.
  • +25% increase in revenue between 2024 and 2025

2025-2026 – Consolidation and Diversification

  • Launch of online sales with monthly subscriptions.
  • Development of brand awareness through targeted marketing campaigns and promotion of the producer's story.

2026 – Acceleration (projected)

  • Significant increase in productivity thanks to new equipment.
  • Opening of a physical store on the farm and creation of a storage space.
  • Launch of a new high value-added product: phycocyanin, a pigment with powerful antioxidant properties, extracted directly from spirulina produced on site.
  • Process improvement and increase in production capacity.

Use of the new investment

  • Research & Development – €16,000. Development of the new Phycocyanin product: search for a partner for extraction, choice of premium packaging, creation of visuals and associated communication.

  • Marketing & Communication – €12,000. Creation and distribution of content on Facebook and Instagram, storytelling around the business and the producer, implementation of a structured annual campaign.

  • Infrastructure – €36,000. Purchase of a new pump, filter, and press to increase productivity. Creation of a physical store on the farm and a storage facility to optimize logistics.

  • Administrative development – €8,000. Optimization of administrative processes with the help of a specialized structure to increase efficiency and management capacity.

Vision

To become the benchmark brand for artisanal spirulina in Belgium and the Benelux, based on:

  • Unique artisanal expertise.
  • Superior nutritional quality thanks to the twig form and low-temperature drying.
  • Total transparency on the origin and production method.

Why invest now?

  • A rapidly growing market, still largely untapped by local producers.
  • A distinctive, high value-added product that responds to trends in health, sustainability, and short supply chains.
  • A clear investment plan focused on increasing capacity, diversifying the product range, and strengthening the brand.
