HeronTrack has moved beyond the initial development stage and is now entering a commercial scaling phase. Revenue increased by 30% between 2024 and 2025, and the company was already profitable in 2025 based on its statutory accounts. The current financing is intended to accelerate the commercial expansion of an operational and recurring business model, rather than to finance the development of an unproven product
Description
HeronTrack is a European Tracking-as-a-Service (TaaS) platform that enables companies to locate, protect and manage their tools, equipment and industrial assets.
The solution combines long-battery-life IoT devices with different location technologies – including Bluetooth, LTE and GPS – and a cloud platform accessible on desktop and mobile. It therefore makes it possible to track both small tools and larger equipment, indoors as well as outdoors.
Unlike traditional fleet management solutions, mainly designed for vehicles and high-value equipment, HeronTrack focuses in particular on small and medium-sized equipment, which remains difficult or too expensive to track with conventional GPS solutions.
The platform makes it possible in particular to:
locate tools and equipment;
automate inventories;
prevent and detect losses and theft;
track equipment usage;
manage inspections and maintenance;
consult movement history;
centralise asset-related information within a single platform.
The solution is designed to be deployed quickly, without complex infrastructure. Depending on the device used, battery life can reach several years, significantly reducing maintenance requirements.
HeronTrack has now moved beyond the initial development phase: the platform has more than 60 paying customers in 10 countries and more than 30,000 tracked assets.
Problem
The management of tools and equipment remains a significant operational problem in the construction sector. Companies are faced with theft, loss of equipment, time spent searching for equipment and suboptimal use of their fleet.
HeronTrack estimates that theft and poor management of tools represent approximately €1 billion in losses per year in Europe. Added to this is the time spent by workers searching for equipment and equipment left unused due to insufficient visibility over its location and availability.
Traditional systems only partially address this issue: conventional GPS solutions are often too expensive or too energy-intensive to be installed on small equipment, while solutions based solely on Bluetooth offer limited outdoor coverage.
Solution
HeronTrack combines several communication and location technologies in order to provide visibility over assets both on construction sites and in depots or remotely.
The system operates in a largely automated manner: users do not have to systematically perform scans, manual check-ins or barcode readings. Information is sent back to the platform in order to provide a map of the equipment, its history and various operational alerts.
This approach enables companies to make better use of their existing fleet, reduce losses, avoid certain unnecessary purchases or rentals and improve equipment availability.
Business model
Since its first campaign, HeronTrack has evolved its model towards a fully recurring Tracking-as-a-Service system.
Customers subscribe to a 36-month subscription including:
tracking hardware;
connectivity;
access to the HeronTrack platform and mobile application;
software updates;
support.
The hardware is therefore integrated into the subscription rather than invoiced in full at the start. This approach reduces the initial investment required from the customer while enabling HeronTrack to develop recurring and predictable revenues.
An entry-level package is offered from €100 per month, including the tracking of 5 technicians or service vehicles and 30 tools, hardware included. The model then follows a land-and-expand logic: as the customer equips more assets, its monthly subscription increases.
Consulting services may also be offered on an occasional basis.
