Ask most organisations how they train their people and you get the same answer: an e-learning module, a slide deck, a video, a long document, a quiz at the end. It is abstract, passive and disconnected from the job itself. We don't learn practical skills by looking at slides. We learn them by doing, and too often the first chance to do the job is on the floor, where a mistake costs money, or worse.

Trainers know this. They want their people to get safe, hands-on practice before it counts. But that kind of practice has always been slow and expensive to build. Budgets shrink, materials age, and training stays locked in theory. The result? People step into the workplace unprepared.

How Dexr solves this

Spatial training gives people a safe space to practice the job. Trainees step into a realistic scenario and make the same decisions they would on the floor: spot the risk, do the procedure, use the right protection, stay safe under pressure. Better to make the mistake here, where it is safe, than on the floor, where it is not.

So why isn't everyone doing it? Because it has always been hard to get there. Building one scenario took months and a specialized studio. It worked on one type of device, so sessions had to be planned around the hardware. And once it was built, nobody could say whether it actually made anyone better at their job.

Dexr was built to remove those barriers.

  • Build in minutes. Trainers build, customize and use practical scenarios themselves, without code, on any topic from electrical work and chemical handling to procedures in healthcare.

  • Train on any device. Dexr runs on the most common VR headsets, in the browser on any computer, and on mobile. Practice fits into the working day, on whatever a team already has at hand.

  • Prove it worked. The platform first measures what a team can already do, then focuses the training on what each person still needs to learn. A re-test shows whether it landed.

Practical training becomes more affordable, more scalable, and measurable.

Where we are today

  • Live: no-code editor with AI help, 3D model generation, VR/browser/mobile, training modules in use at industry clients.

  • Live in pilot: assessment and re-test with clients.

  • Built with the funding: a shared benchmark across companies, faster and better AI creation, and the first LEAP model.

Traction

After a beta phase in education with nearly 700 organizations, Dexr grew into the platform it is today. Schools and training centres still use it every day, and this year a leading South African university signed up for 650 seats.

But the biggest need is in industry. That's where mistakes cost the most and where the training budgets are, so that's our focus now. Companies like Unilin, Actemium and ILVO already train their people with Dexr, from electrical safety to handling chemicals. Several modules are in use, and we're talking about rolling them out to more sites.

Our outbound campaign now brings in around 40 discovery meetings a month, and we're on track for our goal of €400 000 in revenue this year.

Built for an AI era

AI can generate interactive 3D worlds from a single sentence. Our platform uses AI too, to turn a procedure into a spatial scenario, with a person checking every one. But a spatial world on its own doesn't show whether people are actually trained effectively.

That takes a way of testing that measures what people do, not what they remember. Every Dexr scenario scores the same core skills, from spotting a risk to staying safe under pressure. It also shows how far someone can be trusted to do the task on their own. Because the method is the same everywhere, results can build into one benchmark across teams, sites and companies, and every before-and-after result will show which training really works.

Nobody can generate that data. It only exists because we run the tests, and it grows with every company that joins. It also feeds our LEAP method, so each new scenario starts from what has already proven itself on the floor. Every team that trains with Dexr helps the next one train better.

Quality built in with LEAP

When building a scenario takes minutes instead of months, the question shifts from "can we make it?" to "is it any good?" LEAP, our Learning Performance Index, is the method we built to answer that. It brings instructional design and game design together and checks whether a scenario is clear, engaging and actually builds a skill. Scenarios are scored against it before they go live: AI drafts, LEAP scores, and a person makes the call. Without that check, you end up with plenty of content and no idea whether any of it works.

Our next step is our own LEAP model, trained on our test results. That is knowledge no general AI model has, because it only comes from real teams doing real tasks. Each client's data stays separate and anonymized. Only the patterns across results feed the model, never whose results they are. The more results we collect, the sharper it gets. Dexr is built for European rules. Results are GDPR-compliant, and companies choose what managers see: team results, individual results, or both.

Business model

Dexr operates on a SaaS model. Clients can start small and grow with us over time. We earn revenue in three ways. A scenario is one hands-on exercise, a module is a set of scenarios around one topic like electrical safety, and a package is one or more modules built for a client's site.

  • Platform subscriptions, from €3 990 a year: For companies that want to run everything themselves: test their people, see the gaps, build or adapt scenarios in minutes, train, re-test and compare the results. Plans grow with the number of creators and trainees. AI creation tools and premium content runs on additional credits. Later, field experts will earn credits by validating scenarios, and clients can spend them on content they could not build alone.

  • Competence assessments, from €2 500: The easiest way to start. A company tests its own people in a real scenario, on any device, and gets an objective, data-based report: where are the gaps, and how do you close them? After training, a re-test shows what changed. Most companies repeat it every year, so it becomes recurring revenue and grows our benchmark.

  • Tailored training packages, from €8 000 per module, plus a yearly license per trainee: Building a scenario on Dexr takes minutes, but some companies would rather leave the design to experts. For them, our instructional designers build tailored training on the Dexr platform, from a single module to a multi-site program. We add detailed 3D models of the client's own site, so the practice looks exactly like their floor.
